A Twist on Traditional

Still on the subject of seating for the big day, I cannot get the picture of a rolling Tennessee field out of my head! Adorn with wild flowers under a bright southern blue sky, and a traditional church wedding placed in the middle of all that beauty. Church pews and antique stain glass window frames create my vision. There is something so magical about the scene! Some venues are offering ceremonies like this but otherwise pews can be rented or bought at flea markets and auctions.

Chair Couture

As the search for the perfect venue continues I cannot help diving into the small details and of course the seating is at the top of this list! No offense to the traditional folding chair but I plan on taking a different route for the big day! I want an assortment of mismatched chairs! There is something so whimsical to the disorder and unpredictability. I might be overextending myself trying to find 100-200 mismatched chairs (although I would LOVE the adventure of this) so I'll just have to scale the idea down to the cocktail hour with a few tables scattered about or even the head table at dinner! The options are endless and so much fun! Below are some great examples from various sources:

Although these are not mismatched I love the antique wicker look
All of these looks can be recreated! Garage sales, flea markets, and antique stores have an endless supply of antique chairs full of character! The fun is in the search!

The "Perfect" Wedding Venue

On my hunt for the PERFECT rustic, vintage wedding I stumbled upon a place that seemed to go above and beyond my expectations! Cedarwood Mansion in Nashville, Tennessee. The website had me hooked, "...picturesque 1830′s antebellum farm estate exudes country charm and offers breathtaking backdrops for the most romantic event of your life – your wedding. Cedarwood’s expansive grounds offer enchanting sites for outdoor wedding ceremonies and receptions. The beautifully appointed and impeccably restored historic Yarbrough House is used in conjunction with our adjoining pavilion, terraces and grounds for up to 175 guests, or can host intimate indoor wedding ceremonies for up to 75 guests."

I am so inspired by this outdoor cathedral wedding!

What more could I ask for right? That seemed to match EVERYTHING I was looking for! The past few months I spent all my spare time drooling over pictures and envisioning my special day there. Over the Christmas holiday my future husband to be and I took a trip to Nashville to tour the venue... This was it, finally I would get to see my dream location in person! Much to my dismay the venue left me in tears... the "picturesque 1830′s antebellum farm estate" was beautiful yes, but the location was far from. It seems that the estate built in the 1830's has stayed the same but the surrounding area has not. To say the least, the area is not the safest. I was shocked! I guess you could say never judge a book by it's cover in this case!
So the search for the perfect venue continues!
