Retro Nautical Beach Wedding

California bound this afternoon it's only fitting that I am inspired by a retro nautical California beach wedding for today's post! Not only is the design and decor gorgeous but I love the laid back vibe the couple wanted for their big day! Guests were instructed to bring bathing suits for the reception and after saying their vows right by the ocean, a delicious breakfast was served followed by beach volleyball and dancing until dusk! Talk about a fun wedding!

The bride and her mother even got their hands dirty with some DIY's that can be seen below; chandeliers made out of origami boats and vintage fishing lures, hand-stamped and decoupaged eggs, and braided napkin rings just to name a few!

DIY Bridal Party Gift

Bridal party gifts are always a thoughtful way to show your best girls that you truly appreciate their help throughout the wedding process and ultimately for standing beside you on one of the biggest milestones in your life! But after dropping all that cash on a venue, dress, catering, and entertainment the piggy bank starts to look a little empty! So what to do?!

This DIY could be the answer, it is not only thoughtfully fabulous but a great budget-savvy option for bridal party gifts!

DIY Rings

What you will need:

Ring Blanks (Try Michael's, Joann's, Walmart)
Vintage Buttons or Pins
E-6000 Glue
Pliers
Sand Paper

Steps:

1) Remove pin or button loops with pliers
2) Sand until back is flush with the rest of the pin/button
3) Apply glue to sanded back
4) Attach pin or button
5) Let dry

To create a layered look, glue different sized buttons over the ring base:

Vintage Maine Orchard Wedding

How gorgeous is this "Woodsy Maine" inspired wedding, designed by Maine Seasons Events and photographed by Corbin Gurkin?!

An apple orchard created the perfect backdrop for the wedding that was accented with vintage apple crates, white birch branches, orange flowers and moss.  The flower arrangements include ranunculus, dahlia, freesia, roses, mums, orchids, calla lily, celosia, seasonal berries, sage, dusty miller and moss. For a unique twist on the traditional place cards, the bride designed the cards each with a little riddle on them and the answer to the riddle led each guest to their table.  For example, "In the morning when you are groggy and need a little booster, listen for me to wake you up, because I am a____" (Rooster!) The answers/table names were illustrated by the groom's sister and placed in white frames on each table.  Talk about a fun idea, love it!

Flea Market Find

I am so excited to share two of my most recent flea market finds for Antique Door Vintage Rentals; an awesome vintage chair and part of a chicken coop!

The awesome chicken wire framed in gorgeous weathered wood was just calling my name... seriously it couldn't be more perfect. I picture it being used to hang seating chart assignments or for guests to hang well wishes to the bride and groom, the options are endless for this piece!

For the chair I haven't decided if I will recover it or not. I am kind of digging the shabby-chic look of the current chair cover so we'll see!

All-American Wedding

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July and holdiday weekend! With the feastivities just beginning to wind down I cannot resist sharing a fabulous vintage 4th of July inspired wedding! The best part about this wedding is that it combines all of my favorite things; America, airplanes, and a heart-melting love story!

"Our story began with a soldier overseas at war. He and his fiancé have been writing love letters back and forth, until one day she received a military release order asking her to “save the date” for his return. She and her two bridesmaids anxiously awaited his arrival at the airport. The soldier and his bride enjoyed an intimate ceremony on the tarmac while reading old love letters to each other. An all American reception followed in an airplane hangar."
